We add new themes and venues every year and this years’ new venture is Blues @ The Shoes. There is free entry to all venues and you can drop in and out as you want. None of our performers is paid so if you enjoy a set please drop something in their hat to show your appreciation.

Folk Club Stage

In St Margaret’s Hall, from 10am to 4pm with a cafe provided by Dorothy House. Organised for us as always by BoA Folk Club and this year it’s featuring all local talent. The programme is:

Wiltshire Music Centre Stage

Holy Trinity Church, a great venue with fantastic acoustics, is the venue for a free all day concert featuring some of our best local singers and musicians in six 45-minute performances from 10.15am to 3.30pm. Drop in and out as you want. We are very pleased that the WMC has now adopted this stage 2024 and their programme will be posted here soon. The Home Bakes Cafe will be serving hot and cold drinks and delicious home made cakes and tray bakes.

The performers and set times are:

  • 10am MetamorphoSAX A saxophone ensemble of seven young musicians who are all members of West Wiltshire Young Musicians. They play a range of styles.
  • 11am Lorikeet A programme of traditional folk songs and original timeless stories of struggle and longing, heart ache and opportunism, using rich vocal harmonies with cello (Heather Truesdall), guitar (Rosanna Schura) and intricate percussion (Dave Smith).
  • 12pm  Jazz Factory Community jazz workshop – playing a mixture of jazz standards, latin and funk.
  • 1pm The Towpath Shanty Singers A group of sea shanty singers from theKennet and Avon canal, mainly formed of liveaboard boaters. Powerful voices, rousing choruses, infectious singing – if you haven’t seen them before, don’t miss them now. 
  • 2pm  Rock Choir A large choir performing classic pop and rock tunes, super feel good and family friendly!
  • 3pm  Trowbridge Symphony Orchestra Classical performance by a small wind group and/or a small string group. Another every popular act who have become our traditional concert closing act.

Blues @ The Shoes

The Three Horseshoes is a great pub especially for live music and they’ve always been very supportive of the GMF so we’re pleased to announce that we’ve added a new stage for 2024 – “Blues @ The Shoes” in the Three Horseshoes. It will run from 11am to 4.30pm and feature “original” blues. The performers and set times are:

  • The Poorbox Brothers – 11.30am to 12.30pm
  • Charlie Greenwood – 1pm to 2pm
  • Walking To Jerusalem – 2.30pm to 3.30pm. The trio features Nick Sorensen (guitar, saxophone and vocals) alongside Kevin de las Casas (guitar and vocals) and Phil Rouse (guitar) from the Band of Pilgrims. Their music, rooted in gospel, country and early blues, features songs of hope, sorrow and redemption.
  • The Mark Green Blues Band – 4pm to whenever they feel like finishing….

Pubs Alive

There will be live music in three town centre pubs from 12.30 to 2 so why not book a table for lunch and enjoy the gig. All are open sessions so if you are a musician you are welcome to join in.
