2019 GMF 2 – A Giant Jack Is Born

A very big thank you to all our dancers, musicians, singers, helpers, stewards, caterers, stall holders and supporters for helping make 2019 such a success. Special thanks to photographers Tim Maynard and Colin Rayner whose photos really capture the spirit of the day. Most of all though we must thank Keith Leighton for the idea of Jack In The Green and for single handedly designing, building and inhabiting him for the day.

Our 22 dance groups danced their hearts out around the town and our other performers raised the roof in St Margaret’s Hall. The end of day procession at the Tithe Barn was a real experience

Jack in the Green and his entourage toured the town and was a big draw before being stripped at the Tithe Barn to herald in the summer. Jack’s frame was donated to a Sladesbrook allotment as a climbing frame and lives there still.

To help us improve we’d welcome any comments you may have on our day. Please tell us what went well and where we could do better. Also email us your images and videos of the day
