Get Involved

Jan and Alfie Windsor are the founders and driving force behind the festival. They’ve organised pretty much everything themselves but with the GMF continuing to grow that is unsustainable. To secure the festival’s future they are setting up an organising committee to spread the load, bring in new ideas and ensure future GMFs are enjoyable and safe. Alfie will remain as artistic director leading an organising committee of 12 members each responsible for a specific part of the festival and with 20 organisers of subsidiary tasks reporting to them. We’ve had a fantastic response and the majority of roles have been filled but eight vacancies remain – they are listed below and described here.  No job involves more than a few hours work a week. The future of the GMF depends on us filling these vacancies so if you’d like to get involved please email us.

The roles we need to fill are:

Camping: to provide visitors with an affordable, convenient and safe place to stay.

Community: to fully engage the town’s residents and community groups so they can benefit from the GMF.

Markets: to attract visitors by providing a range of high quality, ideally local, market traders.

Publicity: to build visitor numbers and the status of the GMF by arranging maximum publicity.

Safety: to provide a safe environment for all festival performers and visitors.

Tech Support: to provide organisers, performers and traders with the technical services and facilities needed to plan and operate the GMF.

“Victuals”: to provide visitors and performers with access to quality fast food and drink outlets in addition to the town’s established venues.

Volunteers: to recruit and organise the army of happy volunteers that make the day a success.

We also need that army of volunteers so if you’d prefer to just get involved the day email us.
